Dear YMCA of the Foothills Family,

The month of September ushers in the Fall Season, Labor Day Weekend activities, and, of course, the return to school for students of all ages. Before we embrace fall, let us celebrate the impact your Y had over this past summer. Over 1,100 youth and another 100+ staff and volunteers called our YMCA home for the summer as they engaged in activities and experiences that help to build self-confidence and friendships that will last a lifetime. Our Y’s commitment to the recovery and well-being of the Eaton Fire survivors through our FOOTHILLS STRONG Initiative has continued in 2026. Through the end of July, an additional $188,500 has gone to scholarships providing a no-cost summer camp, resident camp, youth programs, and membership to families suffering loss and displacement. Thanks to your financial support of this initiative and the funding from foundation grants, you have helped to provide direct relief and recovery to those who need it most – once again proving the YMCA of the Foothills Family always takes care of its community.

September is National Self-Care Awareness Month, which highlights the importance of caring for the spirit, mind, and body. The Y focuses on health holistically. In addition to state-of-the-art fitness facilities, we offer programs and resources that focus on mental and emotional wellness. Explore the range of group exercise classes, community programs, or even enjoy a few laps on our outdoor track with beautiful views - all designed to support total well-being and self-care.

Supporting Our Educators and Strengthening Families

Now in its 5th year, the Teacher & Administrator Staff Wellness Program provides a free adult membership to LCUSD, GUSD, and Village Christian School educators at all three of our YMCA of the Foothills Branches. This initiative was launched as an upstream approach to help strengthen the social, mental, and physical well-being of educators during and coming out of COVID and has grown to serve 670 people and their families this past year!

Volunteers make the Y World go round! The YMCA's work would not be possible without its volunteers. There are opportunities to give back and make a difference as fall begins. Consider coaching a youth sports team or helping at community events, including the 35th Annual Community Prayer Breakfast on October 3rd or the 6th Annual Trunk or Treat on October 23rd. Your time and talent are invaluable to the Y mission at large.

As the days shorten and a new season begins, we hope you embrace the spirit of community, collaboration, and self-care. Whether reaching a new fitness goal, thriving in after-school programs, or connecting with a new friend, your presence here at the Y strengthens the entire community.

My family and I look forward to seeing you at the Y this fall.

Onward and Upward!
