2025 KEYNOTE SPEAKER:

Pastor Chuck Osborn

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, Charles David Osburn (“Chuck”) has been married to his beloved high school sweetheart, Barbara, a CPA, for 54 years.  They have a wonderful daughter, Kendra (2007 LCHS), and son-in law, Colin Ryan, and a 3+ year old grandson, Daniel.

It was in high school through the ministry of Young Life that Chuck first came to an active faith in Jesus Christ that redirected his sense of “calling” and vocation.  After graduating from the University of Cincinnati with a BA in Sociology in 1971, he joined the Staff of Young Life in Columbus, Ohio.  1974, he came to Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA, earning a Masters of Divinity in 1978 and a Doctorate of Ministry in Marriage & Family Therapy in 1984.  Chuck has been licensed in California as a Marriage and Family Therapist since 1987.

Chuck first came to La Canada as a volunteer leader with the Young Life Ministry here in 1975.  He was offered a position as a Seminary Intern at the La Canada Presbyterian Church in 1976 and was ordained there as an Associate Pastor in the Presbyterian Church (USA) in 1980.  He went on to serve LCPC primarily in the ministries of Congregational Care and Counseling for the next 44 years until his retirement, August 31, 2024.

Over the years, Chuck has also served on the Board of Monte Vista Grove Homes in Pasadena, the Presbytery of San Fernando’s Committee on Ministry, the Junior Great Books Leader Team at Paradise Canyon Elementary School, the Indian Princess program at our CCYMCA (!), and was an avid Spartan Booster while his daughter was at La Canada High School.  He also helped facilitate our La Canada Church Leaders Group and is involved with the Clergy Community Coalition serving greater Pasadena.

Most recently he was honored to be the recipient of the 2024 Les Tupper Focus Award, the 2024 Distinguished Person Award of the Foothills Community Scholarship Foundation, and the 2024 Kiwanis “La Canadan of the Year” Award.

He has been an “MC” and Prayer Leader at the CCYMCA Prayer Breakfast on several occasions.  He has been around LC and the Y long before most current attendees were born (!) ... and remembers with gratitude the many wonderful leaders of the Y going back to Carl Gieseke in the 70’s.

For hobbies, Chuck enjoys being “Grampy” and playing with his grandson, making musical “playlists” from the ‘50’s to the present, cheering on the Steelers and Dodgers … and trying to play golf … even though his handicap is … himself.
