Dear YMCA of the Foothills Family,
The month of September brings a sense of renewal and a return to our regular routines. Over 1,200 youth and another 100 staff and volunteers called our YMCA home for the summer as they engaged in activities and experiences that help to build self-confidence and friendships that will last a lifetime. I would like to draw special attention to the meaningful impact our FOOTHILLS STRONG Initiative had on over 490 families affected by the Eaton Fire in January. Since the initiative's launch, our Y has committed $202,947 to scholarships providing a no-cost summer camp, resident camp, youth programs, and membership to families suffering loss and displacement. Thanks to your financial support of this initiative and the funding from foundation grants, you have helped to provide direct relief and recovery to those who need it most – once again proving the YMCA of the Foothills Family always takes care of its community.
September is National Self-Care Awareness Month, highlighting the importance of caring for the spirit, mind, and body. The Y focuses on health holistically. In addition to state-of-the-art fitness facilities, we offer programs and resources focusing on mental and emotional wellness. Explore the range of group exercise classes and community programs or even enjoy a few laps on our outdoor track with beautiful views—all designed to support total well-being and self-care.
Supporting Students and Strengthening Families
The Y supports students and their families as schools resume. Before, during, and after-school programs provide a safe environment for children to receive homework assistance, make friends, and stay active. Recent participation in backpack and school supply drives ensures youth have the tools and confidence to succeed.
Volunteers make the Y World go round! The YMCA's work would not be possible without its volunteers. As fall begins, there are many opportunities to give back and make a difference. Consider coaching a youth sports team or helping at community events, including the 34th Annual Community Prayer Breakfast on October 18th or the 5th Annual Trunk or Treat on October 24th. Your time and talent are invaluable.
As the days shorten and a new season begins, we hope you embrace the spirit of community, collaboration, and self-care. Whether you reach a new fitness goal, thrive in after-school programs, or connect with a new friend, your presence here at the Y strengthens the entire community.
My family and I look forward to seeing you at the Y this fall.
Onward and Upward!
