Hello and welcome to the first day of the month of May! This month our Y will be celebrating a focused approach to healthy living for all our members. Whether that is through one of our 10 weekly Les Mills Classes (or the 160 on-demand classes on our app), finding time to access one of our 3 cardio wellness centers, or participating in our 47th Annual Fiesta Days 5/10K and 1 Mile Family Fun Run on Memorial Day, the Y has an option for you to get active this month.
Our family seeks healthy living through the great outdoors – and my favorite two wellness activities are camping/hiking trips and baseball. We recently enjoyed a quick weekend camping trip up in Joshua Tree National Park exploring the Hemmingway Buttress and Hidden Valley. I also love volunteering my time coaching baseball for Crescenta Valley Little League, especially when my daughter joins me in the dugout for our games.
The month of May also provides a meaningful reminder that healthy living and wellness is not limited to just fitness activities. May is National Mental Health Awareness Month. The Y’s pathways to wellbeing have been, and always will be, a holistic approach to wellness by improving the lives of all people spiritually, mentally, physically, and socially. For those of us that struggle to find balance in this area, the Y sees you, the Y hears you and the Y is here to help support you. If you or anyone you know is in need of support in this area, you can access our Chaplain Services Program by contacting Debbie Pile at dpile@ymcafoothills.com.
