Dear YMCA of the Foothills Members and Supporters,
As we step into March, I’m filled with pride and gratitude for the remarkable achievements and meaningful moments that continue to define our YMCA community.
First, a heartfelt congratulations to our Dragons Swim Team for capturing the Southern California YMCA Swim Meet Championship title! Since the 1980s, our aquatics program has built a legacy of excellence, character, and competitive spirit. This year’s championship is another proud chapter in that story.
I want to personally recognize our dedicated swimmers, Aquatics Director Heather Harris, and Head Coach Paiz for their leadership, discipline, and commitment to excellence. Bringing the team title back home to the Foothills is no small accomplishment — it reflects years of investment in youth development and a culture that inspires young people to reach their full potential both in and out of the pool.

This past month also provided an opportunity for growth and reflection beyond our branches. Members of our corporate leadership team and I were honored to participate in the “Learning in Community” series hosted by the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation in partnership with UpMetrics. The experience created intentional space for learning, dialogue, and connection with fellow philanthropic leaders across our region. Conversations centered on impact, partnerships, and how we can better measure and communicate the life-changing work happening in our communities. We return energized and inspired to deepen our collaborations and strengthen the outcomes we deliver together.

March is also National Nutrition Month — a reminder that wellness is built through daily choices. At the YMCA of the Foothills, we are committed to supporting our members in spirit, mind, and body. We are fortunate to have certified nutritionist Paolin Hartounian on staff, ready to help guide members on their journey toward healthier living. I encourage you to connect with Paolin at phartounian@ymcafoothills.org to learn more about how personalized nutrition guidance can support your goals.
Whether in the pool, in leadership spaces across Los Angeles, or in the everyday decisions that shape our health, the work we do together matters. Thank you for being part of this YMCA community. Your membership, engagement, and support allow us to continue building stronger individuals, stronger families, and a stronger Foothills community.
Onward and Upward!
