Happy July 1st — we are officially halfway through 2023! I hope your summer season is off to a healthy and enjoyable start. Kelly, the kids, and I took our first-ever trip to Zion National Park, which was absolutely stunning. We loaded up the SUV, attached the tent trailer, and drove the 7 hours to Virgin, Utah. We spent a week camping, hiking, rock collecting, and spending family time around the campfire each night discussing the day's highlights. I am especially proud of Grey for hiking 3.5 miles from the Zion Lodge to the Grotto to the Lower Emerald Pools and all the way back in Crocks without a piggyback ride from Dad! Noah also did well, hiking about 1.5 miles of the loop before saying, "Daddy, piggyback?"
The trip allowed our family to practice Sabbath, disconnect from technology, and reconnect to nature. It truly was a remarkable journey that I encourage you all to take at some point.
If you still need to make summer plans, we got you covered at the Y! There are four different summer day camp locations for you to choose from, plus swim lessons, small group training, and a whole host of healthy lifestyle programming available. Visit our website at: www.ymcafoothills.org for a complete list of options for the summer. I wish you and yours a safe and enjoyable July.
