December CEO Newsletter

Dear YMCA of the Foothills Family,

As we enter the final month of the year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the strength, compassion, and unity that define our Y community. This December feels especially meaningful as we look back on the collective challenges we faced during the Eaton Fire. In moments of uncertainty and loss, our Y community did what it does best: it stepped forward with open hearts and helping hands.

I witnessed firsthand how our board, members, staff, volunteers, and partners rallied to support those affected—offering resources, access to relief funds, encouragement, and stability when it was needed most. Whether you donated financial support, supplies, volunteered time, checked in on neighbors, or simply extended kindness, your actions demonstrated the true spirit of the Y. It was a powerful reminder that we are more than fitness centers and programs—we are a community committed to lifting one another up.

I also want to extend my deepest gratitude for your continued support of our YMCA. Your membership, participation, and belief in our mission enable us to serve our region in meaningful ways—from youth development and family support to health programs and community outreach. Because of you, we are able to respond in times of crisis and continue building a stronger, more connected community every day.

Eaton Fire Relief Continues with Gift Card Donation Drive Starting Today

Continuing our promise to support the Altadena community beyond the immediate aftermath of the Eaton Fire and walking alongside them in recovery, we are hosting a gift card donation drive. Community members can donate $25 to local grocery stores at any of our three branches, starting today, December 1st . These gift cards will be distributed to families who lost their homes in the fire during our next LA Fire Relief event in partnership with California Strong and the YMCA of Southeast Ventura County, on December 11th, where we will provide $1,000 checks, winter clothing supplies to affected families, as well as donated gift cards.

Your Y is providing housing for 3 seniors impacted by the Eaton Fire in partnership with the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation, Max & Kellie Muncy, Beacon Housing, and the Pasadena Community Foundation. The ribbon cutting is scheduled for mid–December, more details to come!

Onward and Upward!
