S.T.E.A.M & Vex robotics
The Y's STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) programming is all about boosting creativity, imagination and problem-solving skills for youth. At the Y, we believe that all kids have potential, and for us to nurture it means that we need to embrace problem-solving, planning, analysis and decision-making skills.
All these great things happen in both "The Garage" and “The Lab.” These creative spaces are where imaginations soar and collaboration brings new solutions. Through project based learning activities, kids will experience first-hand learning of subjects ranging from simple machines to more advanced concepts of computer programming. In The Garage and The Lab, free thinking and new ideas are encouraged and every "failure" moves us closer to the answer. Workshops are led by students and alumni of the renowned Clark High School robotics team. All STEM activities are active, collaborative, meaningful, support mastery and expand horizons. |
