January 2023

“Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year,” Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Hello, YMCA of the Foothills Family! I trust this note finds you healthy and happy in this new year. Emerson’s words remind us all to approach each new day with positivity, hope, and love. It’s easy to feel that way around my family and closest friends.

If you celebrated Christmas, Hanukkah, or another Holiday tradition, I pray that it brought you positivity and hope and you felt loved. I got to spend the holiday with my wife, two kids, and 12 of our extended family members as we hosted our Nanas and Papas, Aunties and Uncles, and many of our cousins. Highlights included the kids caring for our two fish, “Greenie & Cletus” and enjoying Christmas cartoons, my wife and sister-in-law spending quality time catching up with their parents, and the enormous bounty of food prepared by all. It truly was a heartwarming day.

As the calendar flips to January, you can count on the Y to continue supporting our community wherever, whenever, and however we can. January 20th is an unforgettable day in our Y’s history as we will celebrate our 65th Anniversary. In 2023 we will highlight how the YMCA of the Foothills has offered its support over the past 65 years. The ways we have supported strong kids, strong families, and strong communities by placing our mission at the center of what we do. Our theme this year is “Committed to You,” and we are so excited to share all the people, places, and things that have made our Y such a great place since 1958.

As we prepare our hearts and minds for 2023, the Y is committed to doing whatever it takes, for as long as it takes, to help our community to recover and thrive once again—we know we can’t do it alone. Thank you for your unwavering support as members, participants, and donors to help us continue providing access to life-changing programs and services to every corner of our service area. Below you will find all the ways the YMCA of the Foothills is meeting the needs of our members and community in 2023 I wish you all good health and happiness as we welcome the new year. Onward and Upward!
