My name is Adam Franko, and I am the Association Director of Operations for the YMCA of the Foothills. I started at the Y in May 2019 as the Crescenta-Cañada YMCA Branch Director. My YMCA career started in October 2001 as a Sports Coordinator at the North Orange County YMCA in Fullerton. All together, I have worked for six different YMCA branches at four different associations. I have truly enjoyed my time and experiences with the YMCA and hope I can help nurture the next generation of YMCA professionals. I have a Bachelor’s in Management and a Master’s in Business Administration.

I've worked at our Y for nearly 15 years. Prior to that I worked for Burbank YMCA for a year where I met my wife. I enjoy adventuring, mountain biking, hiking or road tripping with my wife and two amazing daughters. The best part of working for the Y is their understanding of the importance of Christian principles, family, and community.

Joanne started her career at YMCA of the Foothills in 2009 as a group exercise instructor. She took a part time job as an administrative assistant for the CEO after raising her twin boys in the community. Her love of the Y and the community led her to her current position as Mission Advancement Specialist. She loves organizing events and working with community partners to take your Y out into the community. She continues to teach group exercise with her favorite format being Les Mills BodyPump. Joanne and her husband live in La Crescenta with their college aged twin boys and miniature dachshund Harbert.

As the Marketing and Communications Manager at the YMCA of the Foothills, I get to engage with the community, develop marketing strategies, and create a vision with local partners that’s long lasting and impactful. As a CSUN Alumni educated in Business Marketing, I’ve worked in various industries from public transportation to entertainment, but nothing has been more fulfilling than the nonprofit sector focused on youth development. As Sunland-Tujunga residents, my husband and I stay busy with our two young boys and look forward to connecting them with everything the Y has to offer. This is a great place and it’s an honor to be here.

I am originally from Monterey Park and worked as the Risk Manager of Forever 21 before joining the YMCA of the Foothills in 2019. Before joining the Y, I thought the YMCA was an old school gym and did not realize the importance the YMCA. In my three years being part of the team, I saw the impact our Y has on the local community. As the risk manager, my passion is working with a mission-driven company seeking to impact lives and strengthen communities. And I believe I found my home to achieve just that.

I started working at the YMCA Child Watch when my children were young, which quickly became a second home. They grew up doing swimming, gymnastics, and camp. (I recall a particular year where I had one child as a counselor, one child as a counselor in training, and two children as campers, which meant I had an entire blissful week to herself. Thank you, YMCA!) The Y community has become family. I love watching the little ones come into the facility, helping parents sign up their children for programs and camp, and greeting our members every morning. The YMCA isn’t just a job, it’s a blessing.

I was born and raised in LA. After graduating from Crescenta Valley High School, I enlisted in the Marine Corps as a Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense Specialist. I attended the University of Missouri, Columbia and earned my Bachelor's of Journalism, specializing in Broadcast Radio and Television. I worked in radio and television in Missouri for several years before moving back to Tujunga and joining the YMCA of the Foothills team. I'm passionate about social justice issues and mental health awareness and treatment.

OPERATIONAL LEADERSHIP

A wife and mother of three children and a runner of two LA marathons, Lori Durbin knows the importance of a strong community and an active lifestyle. Lori spent years in local youth development by founding GoodSports, a nonprofit that facilitated youth sports programs in San Fernando Valley schools, and brought that experience to the Burbank YMCA as Director of Healthy Lifestyles and Youth Development. She now takes her passion for wellness to the YMCA of the Foothills and aims to build a thriving community of members who reap the benefits of healthy living. Lori is currently serving a four year term on the Burbank Park Recreation & Community Services Board and concurrently sits on the Burbank Athletic Federation Board of Directors.

The Y has been my second home from my youth. What I truly love about the Y is the lifelong friendships I have gained and the everlasting love and compassion I have received through the best and some of the most challenging times of my life. The Y has allowed me to be who I am, it has allowed me to develop ideas, to make an impact in our community, while being able to focus on my own well-being. As a mother of 3, my children have always been welcomed at the YI cannot imagine raising my kids without the Y.

Health and wellness is my background and passion. I am so grateful that every day I get to do what I love and impact people’s lives in a positive way! The YMCA of the Foothills is my home and family away from home. Initially a volunteer and Y professional, I have experienced first-hand the sense of community and welcoming environment we strive to provide to all. I feel fulfilled, excited, and happy to come to work where I am amongst our community members and an amazing group of staff.

I was 6 years old in 1983 when my parents put me on the Dragon swim team where I swam competitively for many years. The Y was a place where I made some wonderful childhood memories, found life-long friendships, and where I would start my first job, teaching thousands of children in our community how to swim and be water safe. Some of those students have now become part of my team. I began a career at the Y that has lasted 27 years. My favorite thing about working for the Y is seeing the inspiring stories and achievements from our members and staff.
My name is Chelsea Lawrence, but if you have ever been to Summer Camp or Resident Camp, you know me as Noodles McGee. My career at the Y officially began when I graduated from high school and was hired to work as summer camp counselor. After years of volunteering, I finally had the opportunity to give back to the programs that shaped me. As Leader of Programs, I have the privilege of overseeing programs for kids of all ages here at the YMCA of the. My favorite thing about working at the Y is helping the youth in our community develop meaningful relationships, confidence, and leadership skills.
I started in 2008 at the YMCA of the Foothills as my first job. I am currently in school, working towards my certificate in child development and administration. I started as a child watch aid, and now I am a leader of youth programs and oversee VHY sports, PLAY, Camp, and child watch. The best part of my Y experience is watching all three of my kids participate in everything the YMCA offers, and I love how the YMCA is family orientated and not just a gym.

The YMCA of the Foothills has been my home away from home since I was young child, in fact my Y card says member since 1991 (I wasn't born till 1994). My mother worked at the Y in many roles. She took me and my 9 younger siblings to the Y while she taught her classes. At 19 years old, I started my career at the Y as a Lifeguard. This community has endless potential, the people here care about the wellbeing, safety, and experience of others.

I have been at the YMCA of the Foothills since 2014, and I love what I do here in aquatics! I have grown up around the water, playing water polo both in high school and collegiately at the Division 1 level. I am currently swimming on the Masters Swim Team at CCY and play Masters Water Polo for the Orange County Riptides. I love my life around the water, and I love to share my passion with others. I look forward to continuing sharing my passion for water safety, swim, water polo and overall health for the remainder of my life, here at the Y!

I worked in retail as a Visual Marketing Manager for Southern California Flagship Stores and Sales for 29 years. I have been with the Y for almost two decades now. I lead a “paint night” for Y members and their families at VHY and now will be leading a Caregivers Night out at CCY. One of my favorite things about the Y is the families that we impact. I was a member for 17 years and before becoming a staff member. The Y was like right around the corner and became a second home for me and my family.
