YMCA Essential School Camp Care allows your child to have fun in a healthy and responsible environment while incorporating activities such as study time, STEM, and more. Each day students will be able to log into their distance learning. Our counselors will assist students with questions and needs that may arise along with assignment help. Will my child be able to log on to their distance learning?
Yes. We dedicate time during the day to ensure your child can log in and receive their proper credit.
Does my child need to bring their laptop, chrome book, or other compatible virtual classroom material?
Yes. Please bring a fully charged laptop, chrome book or other compatible learning device each day. Also, make sure to bring headphones each day. Please put your child’s name on each device.
What are the grades for the program:
Kindergarten to 8th grade.
What school districts is this program for?
Our service area covers districts including GUSD, LAUSD, and LCUSD. However, if do homeschool, private school, or another school district, your child can attend, as long as you provide us with your child distant learning schedule.
What activities will my child be involved in when not in “class”?
Your child will be able to participate in a varitiy of fun activities through the day and after school. Here is just a short list of the activities planned: Swimming, LA Kings Ball Hockey, STEM, homework assistance, Physical Education, Art, onsite weekly “Trips” and much more!
How will my child's equipment be secure?
Please put your childs name on all equipment. We will help ensure your childs equipment is put away in their cubbie at the end of their distance learning. While we will do our best to monitor each childs equipment, the YMCA is not responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged equipment.

COVID-19 Camper/Employee Health-Screening
Every employee/camper will be screened, including having your temperature taken, when reporting to work or camp. Upon arrival at work or camp.
Each employee/camper will be screened privately using a touchless thermometer and a questionnaire (see questions below).
Since your last day of work/camp, or last visit to the Y, have you had any of these symptoms?
• Fever or Chills
• Cough
• Shortness of Breath or difficulty breathing
• Fatigue
• Headache
• New loss of taste or smell
• Sore Throat
• Congestion or Running Nose
• Nausea or Vomiting
•. Diarrhea
If you have a fever at or above 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or if you are experiencing any symptoms listed above, you will be sent home. We encourage you to monitor your symptoms and call a doctor or use telemedicine if concerned about the symptoms.

This YMCA program that is not licensed by CCLD and does not operate in a licensed child care facility, per CA Health & Safety Code 1596.793 for the operation of licensed-exempt recreational enrichment programs. For this program type, the program provides recreation, enrichment and distance learning support.
